Heritage-Community Centre - a possible long term goal
Some possible sites and things that could go in a centre. The effect of such a centre on the village would need carefully considering.

Aim :-
Provide a space to exhibit the wealth of historical material from royal and ducal records.
Provide a modest village meeting room with toilets and kitchen plus storage for the marquees used for larger events.
Provide an opportunity to increase employment in the village.
All four sites have ownership issues - see map below

Site 1 – The kennels re-use of buildings within village envelope (shown above).
Site most likely to get planning permission.
Close to the important sites.
Could provide a range of opportunities to set up tearoom/craft centre in conjunction with a heritage centre.
Would preserve visually interesting set of buildings.
Could have several rooms to display the many different aspects of our heritage.
Site 2 – Behind the Dog & Duck (new build outside village envelope)
Close to the important sites.
Would have view of palace and water meadows.
Opportunity to create adjacent amenity area.
Would need to extend car park.
Problems with supervision because of pub car park and national cycle route.
Site 3 - Michelle Bradley’s Farm Shop (Waterfield Farm)
The site least likely to get planning permission as too far from the village.
Existing business and therefore supervised.
Easy to add a tearoom with a heritage display area.
Existing car parking with good access.
Would not draw cars into the village.
Between the two parts of Kings Clipstone.
Site has good panoramic views over Vicar Water Valley and Sherwood Pines.
Site 4 – The Iron Chapel - reuse use of existing historic building.
Could be renovated and extended.
The building is in terrible condition.
Over looks the palace ruins.
No access for vehicles.
No access for the dispabled.
