Why we need a Friends of Kings Clipstone
Why do we need a Friends of Kings Clipstone
Whether we like it or not change is coming to our community. Even before the Living Lottery Bid the County Council had ambitious plans to create a regional forest based on Sherwood.
It is vital that locals control the process by setting the agenda and by banding together we can make sure our voice is heard.
- We need to stick together to avoid horrible tourist developments or new commercial developments in sensitive sites – thank goodness the new large visitors centre is planned for Edwinstowe, not us.
- Work together to protect and enhance the area for the benefit of both residents and visitors.
- Working together helps build community spirit.
- Many of the possible projects overlap with each other so it makes sense to coordinate.
- Quite naturally we want to get a good slice of the cash going. Working together on projects means that we are much more likely to qualify for grants.
- We want to use the power of the internet to easily and quickly inform, consult and mobilise residents when issues arise.
