After 3 years of campaigning and a trial aborted the day before it was due to commence, the County Council having designed a scheme to create a continuous footway(pavement) along Main Road.

In places this will just 90cm (3 ft) wide. The road, already too narrow at the pinch point for the largest vehicles to pass each other, will be narrowed slightly. For safety the road would have to have a 20mph limit which we are told must be enforced by traffic calming, in this case wide plateaus.

The scheme is about to go to formal consulation of the residents in the immediate vicinity.
